Junior School Sport
Sport in the
Junior School
At PLC Perth, we believe a lifelong love of sport begins in the Junior School.
Our programme is built on participation, friendly competition, and fun. Your daughter will be encouraged to try new sports, develop foundational skills, and build friendships that last a lifetime.
Junior School Sport is designed to flow seamlessly into Senior School, preparing students for success both at PLC and beyond. Whether representing the College, competing at state level, or simply staying active for life, every girl develops the confidence and resilience that sport uniquely provides.
Sport Every Day
At PLC Perth, movement is part of every day – even in the earliest years. From Pre-Kindergarten to Year 2, our youngest students enjoy daily Sport lessons with expert Physical Education teachers, building strong foundations for health, co-ordination, and confidence.
Our Early Years programme also includes:
-
Annual Early Years Sports Carnival – a joyful celebration of participation and teamwork
-
Fundamental Movement Skills – embedded in classroom learning to develop agility, balance and control
-
Fundamental Fun – an optional before-school activity where students and parents get moving together.
By starting early and moving often, our students learn that physical activity is not just good for you – it’s fun, social, and empowering.
JIGSSA
We are proud participants in the Junior Independent Girls’ Schools Sports Association (JIGSSA), which offers your daughter a platform to engage in a variety of sports, fostering both personal growth and team spirit.
Through JIGSSA, Junior School students have the opportunity to participate in inter-school carnivals throughout the year, including:
- Swimming
- Cross Country
- Athletics
- Winter Games Days (featuring sports such as hockey, netball, soccer, cricket, and AFL); and
- Summer Games Days (featuring sports such as tennis, volleyball, golf, and more!)
At PLC Perth, sport is more than a subject – it’s a way to build resilience, friendships, and school spirit.
Our co-curricular sport programme runs before school, after school, and on weekends, giving students every opportunity to stay active and involved.
All sessions are led by dedicated PLC staff, ensuring a high standard of coaching and consistent care.
From team sports to individual pursuits, there’s something for every girl to explore, excel in, and enjoy.
