We are a Uniting Church school catering for approximately 1000 day and boarding students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12. Our campus is located in the leafy suburb of Peppermint Grove, situated between the ocean and the river.

Job Description

Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head of People and Culture to lead our organisation’s human resources and culture initiatives. The role covers the full employment lifecycle, including recruitment, development, performance, and well-being. While actively fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement human resources strategies that align with the organisation’s goals and objectives
  • Oversee the recruitment and selection process, including sourcing, interviewing, and hiring candidates
  • Develop and implement training and development programs, performance management, and employee engagement initiatives
  • Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture
  • Manage and provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR-related issues
  • Provide strategic HR advice and operational support across the employee lifecycle
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and induction processes aligned with PLC’s values and child-safe standards
  • Oversee remuneration reviews, compliance, and policy development and implementation
  • Drive the implementation and optimisation of the Employment Hero HRIS
  • Support workforce planning, reporting, and organisational development initiatives
  • Lead and coordinate all aspects of Enterprise Agreement negotiations with support from Senior Management
  • Ensure compliance with all employment laws and regulations

Qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in human resources
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Experience with Employment Hero would be an advantage.
  • Experience in a school environment is desirable
