PLC’s Libraries, better known as Innovation Centres, are a community of research, reading and innovation.
Much More Than a Library
The Junior School and Senior School Library and Innovation Centres maintain traditional library connections and are welcoming places where girls can come to read and relax. However, they are much more than that; they are centres focused on research and innovation, where learning comes together to form links across all subject areas.

The personalised attention our girls receive in the Innovation Centres ensures they are a place where learning is meaningful. Here, girls can develop the necessary skills to make a positive difference in the world, discover their uniqueness, and realise their potential.
Learning programmes equip the students with advanced information skills so that they become lifelong learners. The libraries are the busy center of school life. Even when the lights are turned out, the libraries are still working, providing on-line material to the school community through remote access all day, every day.

Reading and Research
PLC is a reading and research community, and the libraries provide a wonderfully varied collection of fiction and literature that stimulates students to read widely. The libraries host guest authors such as Dianne Wolfer and celebrate different literary and community events such as Book Week and National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee Week (NAIDOC). PLC students also have the opportunity to participate in different literary events like the Tim Winton Writing Competition.
The extensive fiction and non-fiction collections are complemented by a technology-rich environment that provides access to sophisticated databases and online resources. Use is made of federated search functionality and supporting library programmes to equip girls with the necessary skills to navigate an information rich environment and avoid ‘info whelm’.
