The PLC Foundation AGM 2013

The PLC Foundation Incorporated held its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 9 April 2013 at 6pm.  If you would like to read the Chair's Report for 2012 please click here

The PLC Foundation

The PLC Foundation was established in 1988 as a memorial to the late Dr Vera Summers, Principal of PLC from 1935 to 1961.  For more than 95 years, students at PLC have enjoyed a stimulating learning environment and facilities through the foresight and generosity of previous generations. The Foundation Board is committed to continuing this tradition for the benefit of future PLC generations.

As Chair of the PLC Foundation Incorporated Board, I have a group of experienced and dedicated board members who willingly volunteer their time and expertise.  The Board comprises of Jenny Thornton (Secretary), Andrew McKenzie, Ian Macliver, Sue Hobson, Mimi Packer and Jane Whiddon.  PLC Principal Beth Blackwood and Chair of Council Emeritus Professor Tracey Horton attend board meetings providing executive guidance.

The Foundation's purpose is to attract funds, provide financial assistance to the School for the benefit of the students and safe guardianship of bequests and donations generously bestowed upon it for the future of the School.  The Foundation also takes responsibility for all major capital campaigns at PLC.

The PLC Foundation administers two Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) Funds: the PLC Foundation Building Fund and the PLC Foundation Scholarship Fund.  Donations to either of these funds over the value of $2 are fully tax deductible.

Past projects funded by the Foundation include the Science, Technology, Arts and Middle School building completed in 2007 and the PLC Sports and Recreation Centre completed in 2011.  The Foundation awarded its inaugral two PLC Foundation Scholarships in 2012 and made a further award in April 2013.

Looking to the future the Foundation plans to continue funding full academic means tested scholarships and supporting a range of exciting new building projects including the refurbishment of the Senior College.

There are a number of ways that you can support the work of the Foundation whether through the Scholarship or Building Fund including a gift towards a capital campaign, annual giving, voluntary contributions, an online donation, sponsoring a Foundation Scholarship or by leaving the Foundation a bequest in your Will.

All gifts, regardless of size make the difference and continue the tradition of past generations in ensuring that we are able to offer scholarships and fund building projects to meet the needs of current and future students.
