The PLC Archives is dedicated to the task of collecting and preserving items related to the history of PLC Perth. The collection covers the original establishment of PLC in Palmerston Street, North Perth and its subsequent move to Peppermint Grove in 1917 through to the present day.
The collection comprises photographs, videos and DVDs, books, reports, oral histories, school registers, maps, editions of PLC yearbook Kookaburra, uniform paraphernalia, sporting trophies and local studies resources. It also contains information regarding the 2nd Cottesloe Guide Company (PLC's own Brownies and Girl Guide troupe) and people associated with PLC (Old Collegians, principals, past staff, founders, etc).
The photographic collection is extensive and covers all aspects of the School throughout its history, both formal and informal. All photographs are in the process of being digitised. Images that have deteriorated are being digitally restored and reproduced. There is a searchable database containing the digitised photographic collection.
How can you help?
- Donate items: We are interested in adding PLC-related paraphernalia to the collection, including photographs, items of uniform, badges (hat, tie, House or Prefects), books written or received as prizes by Old Collegians, trophies (academic, arts, sport) and examples of class work to the 1950s.
- Lend us your photographs: If you do not wish to donate your original photographs to the Archives collection, please consider lending them so we can digitally copy them. This does not harm the original. We are interested in photographs depicting any aspect of PLC, school events, Old Collegians (while at PLC or later) and former staff.
- Share your memories: Please spare your time and share your memories with us for our Oral History collection.
- Volunteer your time: Can you help with the organisation of the collection? No skills necessary, all training is provided.
Second and Third Generation PLC Students, 1975
In celebration of PLC’s 60th birthday in 1975, a photograph was taken in the Greek amphitheatre immediately north of Carmichael Hall (now gardens). Entitled ‘Offspring of 60 years’, it features 143 students from Kindergarten to Year 12 who were second and third generations at PLC.
If anyone has an original of this photo, please contact Archives. We would welcome the chance to scan the image. This image was reproduced in the 1975 Kookaburra and is not clear enough to enlarge and identify everyone clearly.
Also, if you were in or can identify anyone else who was in this photograph, please contact Archives. Every face counts, as does every connection!
